Direct Metal Laser Sintering is a layer build rapid tooling system
that can build core/cavity inserts for injection mould tooling,
without the need for EDM or inserts, to any CAD defined geometry.
DMLS is generally used for smaller, more complex tools, or can be
used in hybrid tools in conjunction with aluminium. Layers of 20
or 50 micron Nickel-Bronze are fused together using a powerful CO2
laser direct from your CAD model.
Any
post-operative work like gates, feeds, fixing details, even conformal
cooling channels can be added to the CAD model, and built in one
lead-time compressing operation.
Advantages of DMLS
- Single machine Operation
- Single Step Operations
- Automatic production
- Operator free
- No tools needed
- Simple work floor management
- Exact replica of the 3D drawing
